Hibbing Wrestling is proud to have over 100 youth athletes participating in several programs offered to our youth wrestlers.  Youth wrestling is a very import part of the overall Hibbing Wrestling Program.  Introducing young athletes to the basics of wrestling, and advancing them to the high school level is crucial to the future and success of Hibbing Wrestling.

We offer a program designed to introduce Kindergarten through 2nd grade athletes to the sport, filled with basic wrestling technique, fitness activities and fun.  The program runs after school from 6:00PM - 7:15PM at the Lincoln Elementary Wrestling Room, 2 days a week for about 5 weeks culminating in a “Dual Under the Lights.”  It is overseen by the Head Coach and run by alumni wrestlers.

As our 2nd grade wrestlers graduate to the Lincoln Elementary, they are encouraged to participate in our 3-6 programs.  Starting a week after the Varsity season and running approximately 5 weeks, 3rd through 6thgraders can participate in the in-house program at the Lincoln Elementary wrestling room.  This program runs after school 2 days a week from 2:40 – 4:15pm. It is a five-week program designed to build on the fundamentals learned in our K-2 program and uses much more live wrestling to build a solid foundation for the future.  The program is overseen by the Head Coach and run by alumni wrestlers.  The program ends with an in-house tournament and banquet.

For our more advanced youth wrestlers, and those that want more competition, we offer a more competitive 3rdthrough 6th grade program that starts right after the end of our in-house program.  It offers a higher level of technique, team and individual competition, and a higher level of fitness activities.  The program is designed to enhance the fundamentals learned in the other elementary programs, and teach some advanced technique and wrestling skills.  The program runs from January through the end of March.  There are several dual meets and individual tournaments against competing schools and some travel involved with this program.  Practices are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30pm at the High School wrestling room.  The program is overseen by the Head Coach and run by Alumni wrestlers and parents.  The program ends with an award ceremony and banquet.
